			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>And how much is enough?</strong></p>
<div id="attachment_1248" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 135px; border: 1px solid #dddddd; background-color: #f3f3f3; padding-top: 4px; margin: 10px; text-align:center;"><a href="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/investing-yourselfwhats-roi/graduation/" rel="attachment wp-att-1248"><img src="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/Graduation-125x93.jpg" alt="" title="Graduation" width="125" height="93" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1248" /></a><p style=' padding: 0 4px 5px; margin: 0;' class="wp-caption-text">Invest In Yourself</p></div>
<p>A few words on investing in your growth and the<br />
quality of your life&#8230;</p>
<p>My buddy Perry Marshall recently asked his readers a question about<br />
investing in themselves. And, it really got me thinking.</p>
<p>How much do you invest each month in yourself? </p>
<p>In learning the things that you need to take your business and<br />
marketing to the next level of success and profitability? </p>
<p>In building the type of business or professional<br />
practice that you really want? </p>
<p>And, in keeping yourself healthy, happy,<br />
relaxed and fit? </p>
<p>You have to actually invest in all of them as it turns out, or<br />
you become hopelessly out of balance and none of the areas of<br />
your life are optimal.</p>
<p>And to &#8220;make matter worse&#8221; you have to usually invest time,<br />
money and other resources. Turns out your Mom was wrong.<br />
If you do it right you can buy happiness &#8211; the payments just not<br />
ALL in money.</p>
<p>Most of us don&#8217;t spend enough and for that reason we get stuck<br />
in one place. Often, we spend money experimenting, testing,<br />
&#8220;trying different things&#8221; in our business and in our lives.</p>
<p>But there are lost opportunities there. What if you could find an expert,<br />
a mentor, or a source of high quality information and cut that whole<br />
period of trial and error short so that you started getting greater<br />
levels of success (however you define it) earlier and more often and more<br />
powerfully&#8230;what would that be worth?</p>
<p>When I got to law school, I soon discovered that I could probably learn<br />
the important things through trial and error but it went waaaay faster<br />
learning them from some of the top legal minds in the nation. Learning from<br />
masters was a short cut to success.</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s the thing that I found and that Perry found: The better stuff, programs,<br />
seminars, classes (or schools) cost more than the general pablum out there.<br />
Often they cost 2 or 3 times more. But they work. You&#8217;re learning the very best<br />
from the very best who take their knowledge and their teaching very seriously. </p>
<p>The crappy seminars, books, programs, courses, and materials never worked.<br />
They contained the same old advice. They were general, often too simple, and<br />
frequently useless. Nothing changed and the investment was a waste.</p>
<p>BUT&#8230;great mentors, teachers, seminars, programs, and content can get you<br />
massive results much earlier than the books, tapes, dvds, programs and courses<br />
that seem cheaper but are full of general and useless information.</p>
<p>In the end, the good stuff is way cheaper. This applies to trainers at the gym,<br />
business mentors, coaches and consultants. And to great materials by proven<br />
experts and teachers who get it done AND can teach you to do the same.</p>
<p>So today as I was talking about this people kept asking me &#8220;How much do you spend?&#8221;<br />
It&#8217;s a big number, I spend to develop myself in many different areas, and it goes up the<br />
bigger and more successful my businesses and practice become. </p>
<p>Why does it cost more? Haven&#8217;t I &#8220;learner enough?&#8221; why keep spending? Am I<br />
a slow learner? No.</p>
<p>But, fewer and fewer people know more about the most important things<br />
and the things I value than I do AND for that reason alone they can charge way<br />
more for this high value knowledge. And guess what? The money I spent last<br />
year made me able to pay for even better self development this year.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a &#8220;vicious upward spiral of success.&#8221;</p>
<p>Now that doesn&#8217;t mean that I don&#8217;t have set backs. I do.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t mean I always make more. Well I usually do but I often reinvest it<br />
in my business, my team and in my family.</p>
<p>And let&#8217;s not overlook that.</p>
<p>I am advocating spending on yourself and those around you.</p>
<p>I am advocating spending on the business and personal aspects of your life.</p>
<p>The quality of your life is better when you&#8217;re giving to others, sharing with<br />
loved ones and staying relaxed healty and fit. Clearly I can do better in<br />
some of these areas but who else has taken a month to six weeks with the<br />
kids to travel the world and the United States each year?</p>
<p>Yes I&#8217;m blessed but I made the &#8220;lucky&#8221; part by investing in myself and those<br />
around me.</p>
<p>So how much? There&#8217;s no single answer but you need to stretch.<br />
Stop spending on the same old stuff. Save up and get something at the<br />
next level that tells you not just what to do but how to do it.</p>
<p>Even when I was a struggling young entrepreneur and lawyer I spent<br />
a few hundred dollars a month (on average) going to programs, and buying<br />
books and materials.</p>
<p>So where do you go to get this &#8220;training?</p>
<p>Get it from someone who has been successful in the area where you seek to<br />
succeed. The spend will probably hurt a bit. But that makes it more likely<br />
that you&#8217;ll act on the advice and information (or you&#8217;ll seem silly even to yourself).</p>
<p>Now if you like what I do and you want to take things to the next level, while<br />
taming the chaos, consider my fall mastermind in Phoenix </p>

training for life and preparing for life without ever doing<br />
the thing we have been endlessly training to do?</strong></p>
<p>Have you ever practiced an instrument (thinking you&#8217;ll play,<br />
join a band, entertain friends) only to find you never performed<br />
or did any of those things?</p>
<p>In business, I know many people who attend seminars, but books<br />
and programs, perhaps even read them but then never build the business,<br />
do the marketing, or make that breakthrough or change.</p>
<p>Have you been furiously saving or investing to have some future<br />
enjoyment of life that might never happen?</p>
<p>I love to figure things out. It&#8217;s a part of how I&#8217;m built.</p>
<p>And, I am a keen observer of myself and other assorted<br />
humans with our varied ways of living and viewing life.</p>
<p>I have had years of training, in a variety of situations<br />
and from a variety of master for a variety of purposes.<br />
This helps me to see things and to learn things.</p>
<p>But one thing that drives me &#8220;crazy&#8221; ( a little exaggeration<br />
and poetic license here) is the guru who tells you what to<br />
do to achieve some goal, desire, skill, or ability but<br />
never tells you or helps you with the HOW.</p>
<p>So here we go. A thought experiment that might work for<br />
you. That might get you to look at life in a new way and to<br />
think about time, your skills, and how you live and enjoy life.</p>
<p>But first, a quote:</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living.<br />
We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma and we are willing<br />
to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have<br />
difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the<br />
only moment there is for us to be alive.&#8221; —Thich Nhat Hanh</strong></p>
<p>Hmmmmmm. That does get one thinking.</p>
<p>So the same voice and the same words do not resonate with the same power<br />
for each and every person. But this theme is echoed again and again by<br />
people as different and diverse as his holiness the Dali Lama to lifestyle<br />
design guru Tim Ferris (of The Four Hour Work Week Fame). <a href="<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307465357/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0307465357&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=successtech-20">The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich (Expanded and Updated)</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=successtech-"> (Amazon affiliate link)</a></p>
<p>You&#8217;ve probably heard this before, thought about it, realized the power of the thought,<br />
and even wanted to do something about it. To stop preparing, and to begin living life.</p>
<p>But, as is so often the case we learn something but not enough to do anything about<br />
it. Life starts pushing in and we forget about the breakthrough, about being here and now<br />
and we go back to planning for life rather than living it.</p>
<p>Heck, after a life threatening spinal cord injury I swore to myself that<br />
life was too short, that I would never allow the mundane and the future to<br />
deprive me of the now.</p>
<p>Yet, remembering that is a constant struggle. Life powerfully tries to<br />
focus us on the past and the future. we are haunted by the past and<br />
lured by planning for the future. It&#8217;s the nature of the beast.</p>
<p>But there are ways.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a couple of thought experiments <strong>(Mind Hacks)</strong> to get yourself to<br />
really move toward change, and to be here and now, more often.</p>
<p>But remember, we make real choices to be here and now way less frequently<br />
than any of us would care to admit. So start being happy with even modest<br />
moments of clarity and the ability to act on them.</p>
<p><strong>MIND HACK 1:</strong></p>
<p>Step One: With paper and writing instrument in hand close yourself off<br />
in a quite spot for something like 5 to 15 minutes.</p>
<p>Step Two: Ask yourself this Question &#8211; If I could do anything&#8230;.really anything<br />
that you wanted to right now, what would it be? write down all the answers.</p>
<p>Step Three: Ask yourself: If you could do anything for the next one to four months what would<br />
you do? Write down the answers.</p>
<p>Step Four: On a separate piece of paper write down all of the reasons why<br />
you FELT like you could not do that now.</p>
<p><strong>THEN burn that paper (with your objections) or destroy it in a dramatic way.</strong></p>
<p><strong>MIND HACK 2</strong></p>
<p><strong>The body is the past<br />
The Mind is the future<br />
BREATH is the now.<br />
</strong><br />
To be really connected to the moment. To begin to be really present and to<br />
start to realize that you can be living right now rather than just thinking about<br />
the future or fretting about the past, all you have to do is breath.</p>
<p>To get this mind hack, just read the <a href="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/clarity-of-thought-even-in-the-face-of-pressure-and-stress/">FOUR FOLD BREATH</a>.</p>
<p>Enjoy and start living in balance, even as you savor the past and<br />
plan for the future.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Identifying them is Step One But Changing Them&#8217;s Another Story</p>
<p>Or &#8211; Can We Even See Much Less Fix Our Own Flaws?</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/favorite-excuses-habits-hold-success/knowledge-on-blackboard/" rel="attachment wp-att-1228"><img style=' float: left; padding: 4px; margin: 0 7px 2px 0;' src="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/knowledge-on-blackboard-125x87.jpg" alt="" title="knowledge on blackboard" width="125" height="87" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1228" /></a></p>
<p>Brian Tracy recently published a Twitter post asking his followers<br />
what habits, excuses, and flaws were holding them back from<br />
the success that they claim to want. The claim to<br />
want part being my words not his.</p>
<p>And identifying these nasty habits, as well as the excuses<br />
we use to avoid doing what needs to be done to succeed is<br />
obviously a noble undertaking.</p>
<p>But the thing is, that this post (limited of course to 140 words)<br />
and the landing page of his blog on the subject, assume that<br />
we, as humans, are capable of identifying our own filters,<br />
shortcomings and bad habits.</p>
<p>And the absence of instruction on how to actually accomplish<br />
change &#8211; assuming we know what needs changing &#8211; leads<br />
me to assume that the self improvement wisdom simply<br />
tells us what to do but not HOW TO DO IT.</p>
<p>But I think this is worth thinking about and that there are<br />
actions we can take that make our path to success clearer<br />
and success itself more likely. What&#8217;s more, there are things<br />
that can be done. We can learn not just what to do but how to<br />
go about doing it.</p>
<p><strong>Well let&#8217;s take these problems one at a time.</strong></p>
<p>First, there is good evidence, and probably your personal<br />
experience confirms, that we are generally bad at examining our<br />
own assumptions. The filters we use to understand and operate in<br />
the big bad and complicated &#8220;real world&#8221; are like lenses that make<br />
it simpler and clearer but which we cannot ourselves see. If they<br />
were easily visible, they&#8217;d by definition be less effective.</p>
<p><strong>So what&#8217;s a human who wants to get better at anything to do?</strong></p>
<p><strong>We have several options. </strong> </p>
<p>We can ask those around us, who work<br />
with us, and with whom we live, what are bad habits are and what<br />
excuses we use to avoid the things we don&#8217;t like or things that we need to do.</p>
<p>But there are inherent flaws to this approach. First, our flaws in one<br />
context like our personal life may not be the same ones that<br />
interfere with growth or optimal performance in a business or other setting.</p>
<p>Next, in each setting, the person may or may not have thought about<br />
or be perceptive about such things and they may have incentives,<br />
recognized by them or not, for being less than fully truthful.</p>
<p>We can schedule and allocate time to be introspective and to examine<br />
times when we get success and times when we fail to act and to determine<br />
what is holding us back and what our unexamined assumptions really are.</p>
<p>But doing this alone is tough work and inefficient at best.</p>
<p>We can undergo therapy with a behvior therapist who is outcome based and<br />
looking for real world tools to help us to get from point A to point B.</p>
<p>We can find a coach that has demonstrated over and over again an<br />
ability to work with someone like us and to help them to get breakthroughs<br />
in behavior and results.</p>
<p>I have benefitted from this and many of the people who are my private and<br />
group coaching clients, mastermind participants, and consulting clients report<br />
that this alone is one of the most valuable parts of the process and is<br />
worth the price of admission.</p>
<p>Each have their own costs, benefits, and detriments. Spending money on this<br />
may seem an unnecessary expense but what value do you place on the loses<br />
and money left on the table from failing year after year to make that<br />
breakthrough that requires a new way of looking at yourself, and the world.</p>
<p>But doing something, really anything is better than leaving these issues unexamined.</p>
<p>And, whatever route you decide to take make the time to determine what<br />
is holding you back AND what to do to make the change.</p>
<p>That then is the next installment. Once we figure out what we need and what<br />
has, up until now been holding us back, what can we do to make the changes<br />
work and to achieve the breakthrough to the next level.</p>

And, as a keen observer of human nature, who is anxious to learn<br />
what makes them successful in so many different ways and in so<br />
many different areas of life, I have been paying attention for<br />
quite a few years.</p>
<p>Better yet, I was trained, before I met these super successful<br />
geniuses by others who were geniuses in observing, modeling,<br />
and interrogating people. <a href="http://www.Persuasion2Profit.com">So finding out what makes them work<br />
and what motivates them as well as how to recreate it is something<br />
I do well.</a></p>
<p>So for the last 20 years, that&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve been doing. I&#8217;ve been doing it<br />
for 52 years if you count how long I&#8217;ve been observing my<br />
parent who are pretty successful in their own right.</p>
<p>In case you&#8217;re wondering, I believe that I have become more successful<br />
in many differnet aspects of my life than I would have been had I not<br />
learned and practiced these habits, skills, and traits. </p>
<p>And you don&#8217;t have to believe me. Ask around. I&#8217;ve used what I&#8217;ve learned<br />
to build wealth for myself and others. To raise my kids, write books, teach<br />
and learn and to help a number of non profits, and you might even say<br />
to protect freedom. <a href="http://www.Persuasion2Profit.com">I teach all the skills that have allowed me to do this in a<br />
program.</a> But here are a few to think about.</p>
<p>So what are these &#8220;secrets&#8221; of super success and how do you get<br />
started on the path to putting them to work for yourself?</p>
<p>That&#8217;s right. I&#8217;m going to reveal not just what they know and what they do but also<br />
how they do it and how you can do it!</p>
<p><strong>1) The super successful have real clarity about what they want and<br />
they keep working toward it </strong></p>
<p>That doesn&#8217;t mean that they never give up on a particular way of<br />
getting there but they are constantly, religiously, and regularly asking<br />
themselves &#8220;Is this moving me closer to my clearly defined result or<br />
not?&#8221; If the anser is no then they start working on the modified<br />
plan. </p>
<p>But it&#8217;s not really a fall back plan. They haven&#8217;t given in or given up.</p>
<p>The goal is the same. </p>
<p>Only the tools being used or the path being explored is different.</p>
<p>So how do I get the skill/habit of clarity and evaluation?</p>
<p>Most of us think that we set bold, clear and specific goals and program<br />
our minds to start working on achieving them.</p>
<p>Check again. It&#8217;s probably not true.</p>
<p>When was the last time you took a day, or two, or a week. Either alone or with a<br />
successful firend or mentor to really clarify what you truely want? What it<br />
looks, sounds and feels like? Why you want it?<br />
What wonderful things would happen if you got it and what would you lose if you did?</p>
<p>Not everyone belives in or uses written goals but if you havent been as successfu<br />
as you thought &#8211; up until now &#8211; without them then that&#8217;s a great place to start.</p>
<p>As for the monitoring, measurement, and evaluation that the super successful<br />
use, it&#8217;s also a matter of doing it regularly. </p>
<p>Know someone who is super successful who is not testing, measuring his or her<br />
progress? Probably not. But even if it seems that way they&#8217;re probably<br />
just good and intuitive at this part.</p>
<p>For most of us we need a reminder system and we need to be regularly asking<br />
ourselves if we are measuring what we are doing and if it&#8217;s moving us closer to<br />
the goals. Do it daily, weekly and or monthly &#8211; but start doing it and set an<br />
automatic reminder to do it and allow the time in your schedule to do it.</p>
<p>Most super successful people do it at the end of the day or at the sart of<br />
the day/ week or month. Notice, annually is not on the list.</p>
<p><strong>2) They keep working toward it and improving rather than<br />
limiting the vision.</strong></p>
<p>This one is simple I used to say I&#8217;d &#8220;like&#8221; to make a million dollars.</p>
<p>As I got better, I rephrased it say that I <strong>would</strong> make a million dollars.</p>
<p>As I studied what super successful people did, I discovered that they<br />
set a goal related to what they&#8217;d do with the money, how it would change<br />
their lives and when and how they&#8217;d achieve it.</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s a super trick.</p>
<p>I want to achieve _____________ OR GREATER by this date OR EARLIER.</p>
<p>Notice that this gets your brain thinking about the positive benefits<br />
of the goal but allows that you could achieve something more or better<br />
and sooner.</p>
<p>Think about this little thing for a moment.</p>
<p><strong>It can change your life and the lives of others around you for the better.</strong></p>
<p>So as your desired outcomes become clearer and as you start to achieve them<br />
faster and more easily, don&#8217;t just accept them. Improve them.</p>
<p>Make them better, bolder, and more powerful.</p>
<p>And you may be surprised at how successful you&#8217;ve become as a<br />
leader, in building wealth and creating positive change.</p>
<p><strong>3) They are hard workers &#8211; it&#8217;s pretty simple.</strong></p>
<p>The super successful people I know are all hard workers. They<br />
are successful at building wealth, creating art, exploring spirituality, writing<br />
books, poetry, music. They are successful in all kinds of ways.<br />
But they all work hard &#8211; and often a lot.</p>
<p>True. Sometimes doesn&#8217;t look like they&#8217;re working.</p>
<p>But they are. And you&#8217;re probably saying &#8220;I wish that wasn&#8217;t<br />
one of the traits or habits.&#8221;</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s a cool and reassuring secret.</p>
<p>Most people don&#8217;t want to work even a bit harder than they need to.</p>
<p>So becoming super successful often only requires that you be willing<br />
and disciplined to work just a bit harder and a bit more often.</p>
<p>So feel like you&#8217;re working as hard as you can but you&#8217;re not yet<br />
successful or super successful?</p>
<p>Take an inventory. I get a lot done in my life.</p>
<p>Many people ask me regularly how I do it. Well, I like hard work.<br />
But I try to focus on working on what matters.</p>
<p>And if I don&#8217;t make time for the important stuff then silly, stupid and<br />
unimportant stuff will take up my time.</p>
<p>So I use a calendar, a timer, and a schedule to make sure that I<br />
can prioritize and get that stuff done.</p>
<p>Most super successful people I know have their vices, relaxation rituals,<br />
and time wasters. But they don&#8217;t get lost or mired in them.</p>
<p>Try scheduling what matters and cut out a time waster or two.</p>
<p>If that sounds like too much of a sacrifice, then super success<br />
may not be for you. That&#8217;s ok. But what will you miss out on<br />
in return for another episode of Homeland? Just asking.</p>
<p>And to give you a sneak peak of one of the next secrets/habits,<br />
they are good at getting other people to see the vision and to help<br />
them get it done.</p>
<p>They are influential. </p>

become a successful platform for advertising embedded in the videos.<br />
It&#8217;s not selling overtly, but letting viewers see the brand while<br />
being entertained, and advertisers are paying.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>How Tim Ferris Used The Strategies Of Learning and Implementing<br />
To Get Better Results Faster and More Effectively Then You Think Possible</strong></p>
<p>Now on the surface this seems like a video about swimming&#8230;<br />
but it&#8217;s a very short lesson in learning and doing new things.</p>
<p><strong>He&#8217;s speaking at TED so it&#8217;s short.</strong></p>
<p>Pay very close attention to the idea that experts can tell us a lot,<br />
save us an enormous amount of time, and can make us better.<br />
But, experts are experts in part because they have vast amounts of<br />
knowledge that are implicit (that they don&#8217;t even know to tell us)<br />
as well as explicit knowledge (that stuff that they can tell us and teach us<br />
from conscious awareness).</p>
<p><iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/iPE2_iCCo0w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p><strong>So where do you go from here if you want to start getting better results<br />
in anything you do or to learn and then do something new &#8211; that you&#8217;ve<br />
always wanted to do?</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.persuasion2profit.com">First, become better at getting information from yourself and others.</a></p>
<p>Become expert at negotiating, discovering and then implementing new<br />
skills and enhancing old ones by knowing what to ask, how to ask, what to say, and<br />
how to say it in order to truly learn the most from experts and to get the best results<br />
from that knowledge.</p>
<p>Unless you can find experts, get them to happily talk to you, and to discern<br />
what they really know and even get at the secret stuff that&#8217;s implicit to them,<br />
then you cannot and will not become a overnight expert yourself.</p>
<p>But once you know how to get the interview, model the expert and get yourself to<br />
do it, then you can start getting amazing results, faster and more efficiently than you<br />
ever thought possible. <a href="http://www.persuasion2profit.com"> So how can you learn to be come more persuasive and influential<br />
fast?</a></p>
<p>So how can I help?</p>
<p><a href="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/learning-faster-exceptional-results/">Here&#8217;s a related post with a few more ideas to the topic.</a></p>
<p>Next, understand that I&#8217;m an expert in enhanced communication and persuasion.</p>
<p>I learned to get information when I learned to use these skills for interrogation and even<br />
as a comedian and later a paid speaker, coach to executives, business and political leaders,<br />
and as a marketing consultant. </p>
<p>And I have now distilled and applied them in every situation from corporate and professional<br />
copy writing and marketing to <a href="http://www.redwirepress.com">parenting and family communications</a>.</p>
<p>Now what I&#8217;ve done is a full brain dump. </p>
<p>I&#8217;ve interrogated myself (actually, I had a professional interrogate me) and put together a<br />
comprehensive and step by step system to make you an expert communicator.</p>
<p>With this product I walk you through each strategy and each tactic of<br />
<a href="http://www.persuasion2profit.com">persuasion, communication and influence</a>. So that by the time your done &#8211; you&#8217;ll need<br />
just a few hours and then some practice each week, you&#8217;ll be able to<br />
learn to do what you want &#8211; faster and more elegantly.</p>
<p>Basically, being more persuasive, more influential and a better communicator<br />
makes yo better at everything you do now and will make you better at learning<br />
and doing anything you aspire to do.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Art and Science of Achieving More And Being Better<br />
Than You Ever Thought Possible &#8211; Until Now</strong></p>
<p>Have you ever seen a performance, or watched someone who<br />
had an amazing skill, or was able to do something that you didn&#8217;t<br />
yet know or understand? But you wanted desperately to be able to<br />
do that thing></p>
<p>Have you ever wondered how you could learn to do that thing?<br />
How your life would be bigger, better and richer if you did?<br />
If you could?</p>
<p><strong>And what if you could do it exceptionally well?</strong></p>
<p>Well, there are ways that we can learn to do things &#8211; even new<br />
and seemingly impossible things &#8211; more quickly, effectively, and at a<br />
higher level than you ever thought possible.</p>
<p>And, there are a number of tools available to help you to produce these<br />
amazing and seemingly impossible results in your business and your life.</p>
<p>So what are we talking about? </p>
<p>And why do I think that you can surprise yourself and those around you<br />
and start making changes, and doing new and<br />
difficult things better than many people ho have tried and failed and better<br />
even than many &#8220;experts&#8221; who have been learning and doing these things<br />
for much longer?</p>
<p>Well the what do you want to do part is up to you.</p>
<p><strong>Would you like to learn a new language? Play the piano? Become a radically<br />
better marketer, chess player, surfer, dancer, athlete?</strong></p>
<p>What ever you want, there is a place where:<br />
<strong>1) your existing skills/strengths,<br />
2) the 20% of strategies and tactics that matters the most,<br />
3) the implicit and explicit knowledge of your &#8220;mentor/teacher&#8221; and<br />
4) your ability to learn absorb and implement them coincide to produce faster and<br />
dramatic results in anything you determine to undertake than most people think<br />
possible. </strong></p>
<p>So if you could learn to do something new, to get fantastic results and to achieve<br />
at a higher level that you imagined, what would you choose?</p>
<p>Go ahead. </p>
<p><strong>Make a list of two or three skills, abilities, or qualities that<br />
you&#8217;d like to have.</strong></p>
<p>Now pick the one that would make the most improvement in your life,<br />
that you&#8217;d most enjoy having, and that might also enrich you in other ways as well.</p>
<p>Still skeptical about your ability to achieve this and to reap the numerous benefits<br />
of becoming great at something you&#8217;ve always wanted but never achieved?</p>
<p>Good. </p>
<p>Skepticism is a healthy thing. But not if it holds you back from something<br />
otherwise achievable and wonderful.</p>
<p>So let me show you a few examples of people who have done this before we<br />
get to the HOW DO YOU DO IT part.</p>
<p>I was always a good student but was shy and awkward (and covered that up with a babbling<br />
self talk and bothersome and constant bragging to others about things that mattered<br />
not at all to them). So not surprisingly, I was not so good with people. I was disconnected,<br />
failed to really listen, and didn&#8217;t really understand what they wanted or what<br />
was really important to them &#8211; even when I thought I was listening to them.</p>
<p>I went to New Zealand as an exchange student and was determined to<br />
become better, to make friends in that new land and to be both a good<br />
student and a fun person to be around.</p>
<p>I discovered a few of these steps, and surprisingly became a public speaker,<br />
a comedian, a much better student and a (and I&#8217;m quoting here) &#8220;really fun person<br />
to be around&#8221;.</p>
<p>I decided I wanted to become better at languages and while I&#8217;m not fluent, I<br />
can get around in several and while traveling have used my Greek, Korean, Thai,<br />
and Spanish to order food, get directions, and to enhance my experience in<br />
many countries.</p>
<p>Despite the fact that my guidance counsellor told me not to &#8220;over reach&#8221;<br />
(advice I ignored, I applied to and got into Ivy League schools including law schools<br />
and became a skilled (but friendly) interrogator, a<br />
professional speaker and I met and married an awesome, beautiful and<br />
incredible wife who is the mother of our three great children. And all<br />
of this I ascribe to becoming a better communicator and listener by modeling<br />
great interrogators, communicators and persuaders.</p>
<p>And now executives, business owners, corporations, professionals and<br />
professional associations, marketing companies and other sophisticated<br />
business people seek me out to help them with their communications and marketing.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve learned to learn and then to do based on a few principals that make me better<br />
and faster at learning and doing new skills than I thought possible.</p>
<p>And now for the last few years I&#8217;ve learned how to help others to reproduce the results<br />
and improvements that they want to achieve by using these same strategies.</p>
<p>Who else has done this&#8230; and way better than me?</p>
<p>Tim Ferris (<a href="http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Ferriss">for more on Tim&#8217;s story click here)</a>.</p>
<p>Tim Ferris went to Japan as an exchange student and while he desperatly<br />
wanted to learn the language, six months into his stay he was struggling<br />
to learn and use the basics.</p>
<p>He discovered a secret and within months was becoming fluent. When<br />
he returned to the United States and took the SAT II in Japanse he outscored<br />
a friend that was a native speaker.</p>
<p>Later in life he decided that he wanted to be a kick boxing champion. So he went<br />
to China to learn and compete i n the world kick boxing championship.</p>
<p>Tim speaks at TED</p>

<p>The full story is told in the <a href="<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307465357/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0307465357&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=successfulsales-20">The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich (Expanded and Updated)</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=successfulsales-">Four Hour Work Week</a>. But the bottom line? Within<br />
a few months he became a champion in his weight class.</p>
<p>A short time later he moved to Argentina and within months made the semifinals<br />
of the international Tango Championship.</p>
<p><strong>So here is someone who has mastered the ability to model, learn, and execute.<br />
He has become a master of: 1) deciding what he wants, 2) finding out how to do it,<br />
and then 3) mastering and enjoying the doing of it at a very high level.</strong></p>
<p>So what is the secret of doing all three things?</p>
<p>Well, there is a process that makes this easier and faster than most people<br />
think possible. Suprisingly, I most recently came across a great description<br />
of this process in a cook book. In that book, <a href="<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0547884591/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0547884591&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=successfulsales-20">The 4-Hour Chef: The Simple Path to Cooking Like a Pro, Learning Anything, and Living the Good Life</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=successfulsales-">The Four Hour Chef</a>, Tim Ferris uses<br />
this process to encourage the reader not just to learn to cook but to become an<br />
excpetional cook and to make cooking part of an enhanced life. Not just<br />
to become better, but to become radically better at the parts of cooking that<br />
matter the most.</p>
<p>The developers of NLP and brief therapy also set out an exceptional set of<br />
tools for modeling and reproducing great results in any important undertaking.</p>
<p>But to get you started and to help you to realize that there are multiple systems<br />
and strategies that can help you to transform your life and to acquire and to enjoy<br />
&#8220;mad new skills,&#8221; here are the essentials to this secret formula.</p>
<p><strong>There is a place where the following intersect:<br />
1) Things you really enjoy and/or passionately desire<br />
2) A set of skills that can be distilled from experts<br />
3) A break down of the conscious and unconscious skill<br />
(Typically masters are able to articulate certain information and other such skills, steps, and<br />
process are outside of their conscious awareness in part because they are experts)<br />
4) An understanding of the skills that matter the most 80/20 rule<br />
(This means finding the fewest skills that give you the vast majority of the best results)<br />
5) Your natural strengths that can be used in learning and activating these essential skills<br />
</strong><br />
So if we can find (by interviewing, training with, and modeling the masters) the skills,<br />
strategies and methods that make them great then we can also determine which of these<br />
matter the most and help to get the best, fastest and most thorough results.</p>
<p>Once we have done that, we can find the ones that we can do best given our<br />
natural strengths.</p>
<p>That place in the ven diagram &#8211; where all five of the above meet and overlap,<br />
is a magical place where real and exceptional skills and results can be forged or<br />
discovered and honed.</p>
<p>Other matters that matter &#8211; upcoming topics for article on enhancing performance<br />
and getting better results in everything from food to maketing your business product or<br />
practice:</p>
<p>The order of things &#8211; Why the sequence/syntax matters<br />
mastering the skills of the masters &#8211; Specific steps for learning what they really know and do<br />
How to use the 80/20 rule for maximum results &#8211; Finding out what matters</p>
<p>Thanks for thinking about how to improve your business and your life.</p>

And Being a great negotiator is a very powerful skill.</p>
<p>In this exciting clip from The Fifth Element, there are<br />
actually two forms of negotiation portrayed by Bruce Willis. </p>
<p><strong>The first uses a covert skill of persuasion.</strong></p>
<p>Notice that the negotiator &#8211; Bruce Willis &#8211; benefits from<br />
advanced research and knowledge.</p>
<p>The second is a more forceful and dramatic approach&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/8020-rule-assessment-life-business-profitable/8020rule/" rel="attachment wp-att-1124"><img style=' float: left; padding: 4px; margin: 0 7px 2px 0;' src="http://www.successtechnologies.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/8020rule-125x82.jpg" alt="" title="8020rule" width="125" height="82" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1124" /></a><strong>Time for accurate self assessment combined with<br />
the right &#8220;80/20&#8243; questions can radically improve your<br />
business and your life.</strong></p>
<p>How often do you do a self assessment/evaluation to make sure that<br />
you&#8217;re where you want to be or really on course for where you<br />
want to be going?</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t periodically schedule and take the time, then the day<br />
to day events and the currents that they create can seep you way<br />
and way off course from your desired outcomes. </p>
<p>For me? I try to <strong>do an 80/20 assessment in various areas of my<br />
life monthly </strong>so that in the course of the year I have taken some time<br />
in each area. The time should be short but can yield results<br />
that are huge.</p>
<p><strong>SIDE NOTE: Want a count down timer so that you can determine -<br />
in advance- how much time to spend on an activity like this (or social<br />
media and/or email)?</strong> Try<a href=" http://e.ggtimer.com/"> http://e.ggtimer.com/</a> It&#8217;s free and powerful.</p>
<p>Often, you can get major improvement without a lot of fan fare of even<br />
precision in these self assessments. A great tool to get loads of actionable<br />
information fast? <strong> 80/20 questions. </strong> </p>
<p><strong>For example &#8211; in the area of relationships:</strong> What are the three or four<br />
relationships that I currently have in my life that create 80% or more of the<br />
anxiety (or name another negative emition you&#8217;ve been experienceing) in my life?</p>
<p>Take a minute. Actually write them down. Go with your first instinct.<br />
You might be surprised.</p>
<p>Now, I&#8217;m not saying that we are not personally responsible for our state of<br />
happiness or anxiety. We are. But if there are people in your life that are<br />
taking enery and creating a disproportionate amount of pain while there are<br />
others who seem to create the vast majority of hapiness in your life&#8230;..<br />
then you might want to adjust how you spend your time.</p>
<p><strong>Another use might be in the business or finance areas of your life.</strong><br />
You might ask: &#8220;Who are the clients creating 80% or more of our profits or the<br />
financial or business strategies creating 80% or more of our investment return? </p>
<p>And conversely, who are the cleints/customers creating 80% of the problems or the<br />
strategies that only add modestly to ROI but create confusion or take way from time<br />
to be spent on other areas of life?Armed with this information (be sure that it&#8217;s accurate<br />
and not wishful thinking) you might allocate time and resources differently.</p>
<p>Try creating your own list of 80/20 Questions in various areas of your life.</p>
<p>Schedule regular times to do self assessment in these areas and use the count<br />
down timer to minimize the time, improve the results, and get the best<br />
ROI.</p>
<p>Then, review the self assessment and take action to improve each area.</p>
<p>Need more ideas like this? Coaching to make it happen?<br />
Exposure to bright successful people that use these and other mind hacks to<br />
make great businesses and lifestyle?</p>
<p>Then join me in Tampa or Phoenix for upcoming events and learn more<br />
at http://www.3DaysToSuccess.com or call Lisa for private coaching.</p>
<p>I can only take a few private clients per year so let me know if you&#8217;re interested.</p>
<p>To An Even Better Life<br />
